Summer Reading Program for Children: A Universe of Stories!
Children of all ages are encouraged to join this year’s Library Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories”! The program encourages kids to keep up their reading skills over the summer and to visit the library to find new, exciting books to read. Drop by the Library on or after June 15 to pick up Summer Reading Program materials, reading-related goodies, and a schedule of fun summer programs.

Wednesday afternoons: 3-4 pm
June 19: The Tiny Universe: Microscopes
July 26: The Moon: stories and activities
July 3: The Planets: stories and activities
July 10: Aliens: stories and activities
July 17: Stars: stories and activities
July 24: The Sun: stories and activities
July 31: Space Travel: stories and activities
August 7: Comets: stories and activities
August 15: Space Dance and Ice Cream Party!
As a special treat, folks of all ages are invited to experience Starlab, the Springfield Science museum’s portable planetarium. Starlab’s “Night Sky” will be offered free for three shows on Saturday August 10th @ 10:30 a.m, 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m on the upper floor of the Ashfield Town Hall. Make a note not to miss this special opportunity!
Summer Reading Program for Adults: Reading Bingo is back!
This summer, the Library will also sponsor a reading program for adults, encouraging grown-up folks to read at least 4 books during June, July and August. Everyone who participates will be treated to a wine, cheese and chocolates party at the end of the summer, where you can share all your favorite books with friends and neighbors! So drop by the Library on or after June 15 to pick up your Summer Reading Bingo sheet!
