Emotional First Aid in Stressful Times with Talia Miller
Emotional First Aid in Stressful Times with Talia Miller
May 6, 2026 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
What: A 60-minute event for adults to learn about tools for emotional first aid. Join in this safe space to care for yourself with the guidance of a trained hypnotherapist.
Why: When times are tough, you need to take care of yourself so you can show up for your loved ones and your community. Learn simple tools to interrupt anxiety and stressful reactions to current events or personal challenges. With the addition of self-hypnosis tools, you will be able to go deeper inside to create space for care, healing, and clarity about how to move forward.
As one recent participant put it: “After my first session (focusing on anxiety) I found myself feeling hopeful, inspired and maintaining an open mind about my own body and brain's ability to heal and grow from within.”
Who: Your facilitator, Talia Miller, M.Ed., is a hypnotherapist certified in Integrative Hypnosis™. She is also an elementary school librarian with 25 years of experience in the education field. She has experience working with children and adults and giving presentations to audiences of all ages. She runs Skylight Hypnotherapy in Northampton, MA.

Appliqué, Embroidery & Block Printing for Personal Storytelling
Appliqué, Embroidery & Block Printing for Personal Storytelling
May 23, 2026 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
In this three-part workshop series, we'll explore how to transform clothing into personal, story-rich piece through drawing and textile techniques. Each class begins with drawing as a way to develop your own visual language-- simple, expressive motifs rooted in memory, symbolism, and everyday life.
From there, you'll translate your imagery into cloth using three different approaches: embroidery, appliqué, and block-printing. Together, these methods offer multiple ways to mark, layer, and reimagine garments-- whether you're revitalizing something from your closet or upcycling a new-to-you garment. Rooted in folk-art sensibility, this series embraces imperfection, texture, and the idea that the magic is in the making. Support by the Ashfield Cultural Council and Belding Memorial Library.
RSVP: 413-628-4414 bmlashfield@gmail.com
Limited to 12 participants per workshop.
Bring 2-3 clothing items to embellish. All other materials provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note these activities include using sharp objects such as sewing needles, scissors, and linoleum block carving chisels.
Saturday April 25: Embroidery
Saturday May 23: Raw Edge Appliqué (sewing machine required)
Saturday June 13: Block-printing
Workshops run from 10AM to 1PM.
