Soup & Syrian Fiction Book Group Meeting: Saturday, January 30, 1:00 p.m.

A new book group has formed to read and discuss short fiction by Syrian women writers. The group will meet once a month at the Library from January to May. Different soups from the cookbook Soup For Syria, published by Interlink in Northampton, will be served at the Book Group meetings. The first meeting will be on Saturday January 30 at 1:00 p.m. and the book that will be discussed is A Woman in the Crossfire: Diaries of the Syrian Revolution by Samir Yazbek. Yazbek is a journalist who was awarded the PEN/Pinter International Writer of Courage Award in 2012, which is given to “an author of outstanding literary merit who casts an ‘unflinching’ eye on the world”.
