The library will host Ashfield resident Arianna Alexsandra Collins—poet, priestess, naturalist and  writer—who will read from her new novel, Hearken to Avalon, on Saturday, December 12th, from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 pm. A historical fantasy, Hearken to Avalon is “a dazzling tale of myth and magic.” Refreshments will be served along with savory passages. Books will be on sale; cash or checks only.

Share Soup and Help Plan a Syrian Fiction Book Discussion Group!  Saturday, December 19, 1 p.m.

The Library will host a planning meeting for a book discussion group to run monthly from January to May 2016. Books to be read will be part of a collection of short novels by Syrian writers recently donated to the Library. Soup will be served and all books will be available to peruse.

The Soup to be sampled at the meeting will be from the delectable recipes (by many famous chefs) in the new cookbook Soup for Syria, published by Interlink Publishing in Northampton. The profits from the sale of this humanitarian cookbook project will be donated to the UN refugee agency UNHCR to provide urgently needed food relief for Syrian refugees. The library owns a copy of the cookbook.
